BASELAN 22 finished off a couple weekends ago and it was one of the largest to date.  They were maxed out on seating, power, and even spectator seating! Over 400 people attended the event including PC gamers, console gamers, and a massive amount of spectators (which is something new to BASELan).

We're back from QuakeCon in Dallas and man did we have a blast.  Arriving in the middle of record hot temperatures took us Canadians by surprise so we had to adjust to the heat by losing our jackets, toques and dogsleds.  Coming off an amazing event in 2010 Psyko Audio was excited to be right in the middle of all the action once again. Being across from the Tribes: Ascend booth was great as we were able to watch the game in action – it looks like it is shaping up to be a great product! While controlling our temptations to jump play Tribes all day, we did stir up much excitement at the Psyko booth.  T-shirts, contests, and giveaways fueled the action in the expo hall and the demo station was always in use. We are gearing up and heading to the Woodstock of gaming.  This year Psyko Audio will be at Quake Con 2011, the biggest LAN event in North America.  Every year the event gets bigger and better and we are really excited to be a part of the event.  Presented by id and Bethesda Softworks, Quake Con is described as "a weekend full of peace, love, and rockets." Kicking things off is John Carmack (id's co-founder) with a keynote address.  Throughout the weekend there are a ton of special events and games to check out like Skyrim, Prey 2, and RAGE.  All of those are great, but you will really want to come by booth #246 and get your chance to try on some Psyko headsets. Here is the low down of the weekend: Who - Club Conflict Where - Western, Pennsylvania When - July 7 - 10, 2011 What - CS: Source, Call of Duty, Battlefield tournaments The organizers of the weekend (Club Conflict) wanted to do something a little different for one of the events, maybe something a little crazy per se. Talking with the organizers from Baselan it is safe to say that Baselan 21 was an overwhelming success.  Baselan is back with a vengeance with the 3 day event that ran even better than expected. There was a great new group of young gamers who really drove the event back to its original glorious status.

April is a busy time for Psyko Audio - we launched 2 products at the start of the month and now we are headed to a select few events where people can check out the new headsets and have a chance to possibly win a Psyko Carbon or a Psyko Krypton.  Here is a summary of the events that we will be participating at in April. The Gaming Club at Oregon State university is hosting Civil War LAN for the 3rd year in a row.  Civil War LAN is the most unique LAN Party in existence today.  This LAN Party takes the Civil War rivalry of two schools, and brings it to the gaming scene.  Upwards of 500 students from Oregon State University and University of Oregon battle it out head to head in the hottest games to determine which school will prevail. The event is going on the weekend of April 29 - May 1 at Oregon State University. The team here at the lab have been working with the amazing crew over at Intel LANfest.  Being a part of some of the most amazing LAN tournaments this year has definitely been a highlight for Psyko Audio this year. PDX LAN happened over this past weekend and Psyko Audio was one of the major sponsors.  Participants were super excited when they found out that Psyko Audio headsets were on the line for contests, giveaways, and tournaments.  Even though we were not able to be there in person, it was very cool to hear that the Psyko Audio 5.1 PC Gaming headset was the coveted prize that every gamer in attendance wanted to get their hands on.

There was over 500 people registered and even more came through the door over the weekend that ran from July 16 - 19th where the average hours of sleep per night was less than 5. With E3 wrapping up this past week we have seen a slew of new technology come out of almost all of the big name companies.  Each of the press briefings demonstrated how Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo all want to move into the next phase of technology for gaming.  For some it means 3d gaming for the masses and for others it is a total body interactive experience that favors motion control over the joysticks of the past. Microsoft revealed Kinect (previously named Project Natal), their controller-free motion controlled camera unit.  It definitely showed promise as it toted head tracking, facial recognition, and body scans.  Kinect wants gamers to have a more 'connected' experience in the home where they will be able to use it to navigate their menus, video chat to friends and family, and of course motion control for their family-friendly games.  One of the cooler aspects was the body scanning for the fitness programs (Ubisoft's "Your Shape") that presented a very accurate depiction of the person in...

Psyko Audio had an intense weekend, spending most of it as a witness to a three day LAN Tournament goer at the Project X - Uprising.  Psyko Audio was one of the many proud sponsors that was able to help the event, but one of the few that actually stayed to soak in the atmosphere of the tournament. Three days of straight gaming with the only light coming from your monitor is something that few have experienced, and this is exactly the audience Psyko wants to associate with.  The passion that exudes from the participants is like nothing other and is what gaming is all about.  Less sleep and more games is what makes a gamer 'hardcore' and Project X captured this feeling throughout the weekend.
