It can take off and land vertically, as well as hover much like a helicopter.  The wings inside allow it to work like a propeller plane so it can move quickly through the air.

Battlefield 3 is finally out in North America and we stayed up late to get some time with the game before coming into work in the morning. Needless to say, the game is beautiful and for the small amount that we played, it was quite the enjoyable experience.  Of course, we were mostly wanting to test out the surround sound with the Psyko headsets to see what kind of sound design Battlefield 3 was working with.

After years of red tape and paperwork, we have finally been granted our first US patent. The PsykoWave technology that you have grown to love will no longer say 'patent pending' as we now have the real thing.  We are quite excited, especially the brains behind the invention - James Hildebrandt.  So we are breaking out the champagne and having a patent party today at the office in celebration of receiving this important document.  We are happy to be able to claim our PsykoWave technology as our own and will continue to pave the way for TRUE surround sound.  If you are not familiar with how our technology works, then take a couple minutes to read the White Paper or the Technology page...

We get excited about cool technology.  If it is someone making a crazy invention in their garage (ala Psyko) or a large scale company pushing the boundaries on how we think of products, being amazed by an idea is a universal feeling. When we see something that warrants some of your lifeminutes then we feel the need to pass it on.  We were talking about some cool inventions last week which spurred our discussion into remembering some interesting products and ideas that we saw over the past couple years.  Here are a few of the examples of great technology.  Walking Table: Hidden TV under your bed: Transforming Table: VW electric bike: Feel free to share your own examples of cool technology.   ...

Our fellow Calgarian and resident pro-gamer, Holiday Doc made a trip over to Psyko Audio Lab.  We wanted to have him come take our new headsets for a spin and we were super excited to see what Doc had to say about the headsets. He arrived in the morning and we immediately went to testing. We had the new Psyko Carbons ready for him to strap on and he went to work on some Black Ops and Crysis 2.  We could describe what happened after that, but it is better if we let the man himself show you what went on behind our lab doors. Needless to say that we were very pleased with what Holiday Doc had to say and that we think he will be taking the place of his favorite headset.  Be sure to check out his awesome videos on his YouTube channel where he does some great commentary on games, product reviews, and sheds some light into the brain of a top tier player. Stay tuned as Holiday Doc will be doing a review of the Psyko Carbons and Psyko Kryptons that you will not want to miss.  ...

"Kit for hardcore gamers pumps up the volume" Psyko Audio was featured in the Globe and Mail online today where they published a great interview of Head Psyko - James Hildebrandt.  James takes them through what Psyko does and means for the gaming community.  There is an article as well as a great video interview with James explaining PsykoWave Technology. A quick exerpt from the piece reads: “We’re really delivering adrenalin, and that’s probably the most addictive drug out there,” says Mr. Hildebrandt. “Our target market is those guys who are playing the shooter games. When they hear a gunshot in a certain location with our headphones, they can tell exactly where it happened, can react faster and feel more immersed in the game.” Check it out for yourself and read the full article here. ...

In this age of home theaters we often wonder how the movie industry stays alive.  The running costs of a Colosseum-esque building with multiple projectors seems like a thing of the past when people can have the same experience at home.  The consumer electronics industry has been pushing for bigger and better TV's, stereos and movies so that the individual does not have to leave the comfort of their house in order to get a great entertainment experience. Combine this home theater phenomenon with the new revolution of digital distribution and the acquisition of media has become so easy that we probably will not see brick and mortar movie rental stores much longer.  If we further investigate internet streaming services and how they have revolutionized the way we watch TV and movies, and even how we acquire our games is this going to cause the downfall of regular cable and satellite networks? The companies of the past 50 or so years have had a stranglehold on how media is delivered into the home.  If you wanted...

With E3 wrapping up this past week we have seen a slew of new technology come out of almost all of the big name companies.  Each of the press briefings demonstrated how Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo all want to move into the next phase of technology for gaming.  For some it means 3d gaming for the masses and for others it is a total body interactive experience that favors motion control over the joysticks of the past. Microsoft revealed Kinect (previously named Project Natal), their controller-free motion controlled camera unit.  It definitely showed promise as it toted head tracking, facial recognition, and body scans.  Kinect wants gamers to have a more 'connected' experience in the home where they will be able to use it to navigate their menus, video chat to friends and family, and of course motion control for their family-friendly games.  One of the cooler aspects was the body scanning for the fitness programs (Ubisoft's "Your Shape") that presented a very accurate depiction of the person in...
