BASELAN 22 finished off a couple weekends ago and it was one of the largest to date.  They were maxed out on seating, power, and even spectator seating! Over 400 people attended the event including PC gamers, console gamers, and a massive amount of spectators (which is something new to BASELan).

The event kicked off on Friday with doors opening at 3:00 pm. The long weekend in Canada meant that participants arrived throughout the day instead of a large mob, which made registration easy for everyone. BASELan was using proprietary software that sounded both awesome and efficient. The software generates brackets, allows gamers to communicate, and can even send them a text message to alert them that a match is coming up.  The software can be viewed here: http://www.lanhub.ca. Over the weekend the streams had over 2000 viewers with highlights being the Starcraft 2 tournament, the League of Legends Tournament, and their longest running tournament - Team Fortress 2.

Saturday had an early start with Battlefield 3 at 10:00am. After getting some of the kinks worked out with a new game and how the matches would be run the matches ran all day. UT2004 was tossed into the mix with a first to 500 points insta-gib event. Gears of War 3, MvC3, Street Fighter 4, and Starcraft 2  rounded out the evening. At midnight the 3 hour Trackmainia event began, with red-eyed drivers steering their way into Sunday morning.  It was an amazing weekend and they are expecting an even bigger turnout in May of 2012.  Thanks again to Aaron and the crew over in Winnipeg for having us at BaseLAN 22.
